Battlin’ Bill Kristol has a singularly ill-timed piece up at the Weekly Standard, “Ben Carson, Reconsidered”, repenting the Standard’s earlier claim that Carson would make an “unacceptable” nominee, After quoting that great conservative Edith Piaf, Bill admits that he was way too hard on Ben, in a rap that includes such “gee I wish I hadn’t said that” lines like the following, expressing deep enthusiasm for one of Caron’s self-aggrandizing Facebook posts: “it does suggest qualities of mind and soul that have been sorely missing in recent American public life.”
Uh-huh. And what about lying about being accepted at West Point and getting a full scholarship?1 Or is Bill Kristol, you know, comfortable with deceit? Hey, maybe that question answers itself!
- As a few smart asses have noted, West Point doesn’t give scholarships because tuition is free. ↩︎
