Bob Woodward (yes, that Bob Woodward) comes up with a pretty much must read, accusing Donald Rumsfeld of, well, not being a murderer, a liar, or a torturer, but at least a pretty big jerk: “Rumsfeld’s memoir is one big clean-up job, a brazen effort to shift blame to others – including President Bush – distort history, ignore the record or simply avoid discussing matters that cannot be airbrushed away. It is a travesty, and I think the rewrite job won’t wash.”
Some people may be wondering why Bob didn’t tell us some of this shit in, you know, real time, when it might have had some effect, but better late than never, one can always say. Anyone who gives Rummy’s big fat ass a boot is going to get at least a limited thumb’s up from me, no matter how cautious or nuanced or mealy-mouthed or incomplete that boot might be.
