1) How can we identify civilians, when the Obama Administration has decided that anyone with a penis and without a hearing aid is a “militant”?
2) How do we know that any of the people targeted by drones are “bad guys”—that is to say, since this is a “war” being waged against people who are not in uniform, who are going about their daily lives—that is to say, people who are not part of any army of any nation avowedly at war with the U.S.—how are the murders of any of these people considered to be acts of war rather than essentially random acts of terror, carried out for essentially domestic political reasons, to prove that the Obama Administration is “tough on terror,” and, perhaps more importantly, to keep the CIA amused, so they won’t start pissing on the Obama Administration for being a bunch of pantywaists? Sure, compared to Hiroshima drones are great, but shouldn’t the civilian death toll be zero, and the “bad guy” death toll zero as well, since virtually none of the people have ever done us harm?
Afterwords
When I was in Vietnam, during our “indoctrination,” an unpleasant sergeant told us “If you ever get so frustrated, you just have to kill one of them, be sure to plant a grenade on the body so you can claim it was self-defense”. Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose, n'est–ce pas?
