Former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty is leaving his job as co-chair of Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign to take a new one, CEO of the Financial Services Roundtable, which is, guess what, a major lobbying outfit in DC. Salary for the new gig is going to be around $1.8 million. In an article in “THE HILL,” Ian Swanson and Peter Schroeder sum up Tim’s new situation as follows: “He joked that another big challenge for him will be ‘finding an affordable place to live,’ as he plans to maintain residences in Washington and his home state of Minnesota — at least until his youngest daughter finishes high school.”
Tim further “joked” that, “you know, I just had to get out of that Romney campaign. It was a fucking disaster, you know what I’m saying? Secretary of the Treasury? I don’t fucking think so. It was time for me to get my crab-ridden ass out of there and pick up some serious walking around money, you know what I’m saying?”*
Afterwords
It’s intriguing, if not baffling, to me that the media just treats this as a job change, with no political signficance. Tim doesn’t think Mitt can win? Why would you say that?
*I made this part up.
