Recently, President Donald Trump was asked to comment on the arrest of Ghislaine Maxwell for charges of procuring underage women for notorious sexual abuser Jeffrey Epstein back in the 1990s and, more recently, in 2017, for perjuring herself when testifying about the matter. Quoth1 the Donald
I just wish her well, frankly. I've met her numerous times over the years, especially since I lived in Palm Beach, and I guess they lived in Palm Beach. I just wish her well, whatever it is.
Imagine, if you can, what the reaction of the National Review, or the Wall Street Journal, or the Washington Examiner, or the rest of the “Right”, if Bill Clinton had made a similar statement today as a private citizen. Imagine what their response would have been if he had made such a statement as president!
Perhaps the Right simply hasn’t gotten the hang of interpreting “Trumpspeak”. Presuming that that is the case, I will provide a translation:
Snitches get stiches, honey. Don’t talk? You walk. Make Big Daddy happy.
That’s it. That’s what he is telling her. Recently rediscovered video from 2015 shows then private citizen Trump describing Epstein’s infamous island retreat as follows:
That island was really a cesspool, there's no question about it. Just ask Prince Andrew, he'll tell you about it. The island was an absolute cesspool.
Ghislaine Maxwell was headmistress of said cesspool. And Donald Trump wishes her well. And the Right says nothing. Because once you have swallowed Donald Trump, anything else is an amuse-bouche.
