Yeah, Barack, you’re practically a bystander to all this. Oy, the hypocrisy. How long O Lord, how long, how long will it take to empty the vials of my bile that have accumulated in the last few days. Who is worst, Obama, Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, or Secretary of State John Kerry? Well, Obama easily, though Chuck and John have done their damnedest. Chuck, for instance, tells us the following:
If Assad is prepared to use chemical weapons against his own people, we have to be concerned that terrorist groups like Hezbollah, which has forces in Syria supporting the Assad regime, could acquire them. This risk of chemical weapons proliferation poses a direct threat to our friends and partners, and to U.S. personnel in the region. We cannot afford for Hezbollah or any terrorist group determined to strike the United States to have incentives to acquire or use chemical weapons.
Still, Chuck is left in the dust by John, who “explained” that attacking Syria, which the Russians have told us not to do, will somehow cause the Russians to join with us—“I think, you know, we have to sort of deal with this thoughtfully, and let’s hope the summit might produce some change of heart as the president makes the evidence [of Assad’s use of chemical weapons] available to President Putin.” After this stunning change of heart on the part of Putin, well, a negotiated settlement in Syria easing Assad out of office is practically in the bag. And it’s all good, because ““The opposition has increasingly become more defined by its moderation, more defined by the breadth of its membership and more defined by its adherence to some, you know, democratic process and to an all-inclusive, minority-protecting constitution, which will be broad-based and secular with respect to the future of Syria. And that’s very critical.” Very, very critical, one might say. And also totally unlikely to happen.
Still, even John is left in the dust by Obama, who started this whole mess with his “red line,” which he now insists is not his red line at all, but someone else’s. And this whole resolution to authorize the use of U.S. force in Syria? Well, the president did propose it, and he will execute it if Congress approves, but that’s not like it’s his baby! No, not at all! A president AWOL from his own war! Barack Obama—incompetence, deceit, and cowardice, all rolled into one great big ball.
Afterwords
Republicans have been wondered for the past year or so how they could possibly hope to regain the presidency. The way things are looking now, that may not be a problem.
