Unelected conservative ideologues—such as Rush Limbaugh and George F. Will—can mutter in frustration, but Republican politicians recognize what was written here as long ago as last Dec. 2: “If the Republican Party really wanted to hold on to the White House in 2009 … it would grit its teeth, swallow its doubts and nominate a ticket of John McCain for president and Mike Huckabee for vice president—and president-in-waiting.”
It’s amusing that Broder sneers at George Will for being an “unelected conservative ideologue”* while appointing himself as basically the Voice of God, praising Republican politicians for having the good sense to recognize that what he said “as long ago as Dec. 2” was the ever-lovin’ blue-eyed truth so just do what I tell you goddamnit and then everything will be OK!
*Special points to El Davo for lumping Sir George with former lardbutt Rush Limbaugh. Meow!
