The Supreme Court issues a ruling affirming, sort of, the right of the FCC to punish “fleeting obscenities.” Justice Scalia, writing for a 5-4 majority, took a whack at the “foul-mouthed glitteratae from Hollywood.” For those not up on their Latin, the “ae” ending indicates that the good Justice was directing his ire at trash-talking chicks only. “Glitterati” would be the masculine.
Afterwords
I don’t really know if Nino was aiming at Britney, but I doubt if he cared for her “If You Seek Amy” video. (If You Seek, get it?)
Update
Having now skimmed Scalia’s opinion, it appears that Nino was pissed about Nicole Richie and Cher, who uttered the “shits” and “fucks” in question. His sneer was the culmination of a ridiculously extended trope at the expense of a ridiculously extended trope of the part of dissenting Justice Breyer. The more Supreme Court opinions I read, the less I think of them. These guys (and gals) have too much time on their hands.
