President Obama, learning you can’t please all the psychos all the time

God knows he’s tried. President Obama has ordered more hits than Al Capone. The problem is, he wants to take credit for them! And that’s pissed off a gang of ex-spooks and SEALS and other wet work types, who have formed a little gang that calls itself the Special Operations Opsec Education Fund, set up to trash the President in the name of truth, justice, and the American way. New York Times reporter Scott Shane chases down some of these dudes here, who surprisingly enough all turn out to be Republicans.

The pitch of SOOEF is that the President is leaking precious national secrets for partisan gain. Of course, everyone does that in Washington all the time, but apparently this time it’s different—mostly because it’s beginning to look more and more like Mitt and Paul don’t quite have the moxie to keep up with President Obama and Joe “Drunk Uncle” Biden.

There was a time in this country when we were supposed to have civilian control of the military, and the CIA was supposed to be neither seen nor heard, but all that’s been sort of old hat since the Reagan Administration. Back in Ronnie’s heyday, Republicans convinced themselves that they had a mortal lock on the presidency, as they liked to say, a lock that has indeed proved mortal. The right never forgave Bill Clinton for winning the presidency, and they won’t forgive Obama either.

Really more of a revision and extension. Back in June, Glenn Greenwald described the real sins of the Obama Administrations’ policy of selective leakage and selective prosecution. SOOEF objects, not to Obama’s “kill ‘em all” policies, but rather that he seeks to benefit politically from them. Apparently, only the right should be able to convert murder into political gain.
