Both New York magazine and the New York Times are a bit ga-ga over the 20th anniversary of Sex and the City, one of the turn of the millennium shows, along with the more conventional Friends and Seinfeld, that convinced more conventional Americans (more totally conventional Americans) that the Big Apple was no longer all about the muggings. One can wonder if the rest of America gives a damn, but I gave a damn back in 2010, with this Bright Lights Film Journal retrospective for what I consider one of the best TV shows ever. Why is fighting so much cooler than fucking? I’ve always enjoyed the latter so much more.
