In yet another event that lessens one’s hope for the future, President Obama has announced the deployment of 1,200 National Guard troops to “guard” the Mexican border in Arizona. According to the New York Times, the president acted in response to demands from both Republicans and Democrats in that state.
I’m guessing that this latest move is basically a contribution to the Rep. Gabrielle Giffords Re-election Campaign. Gabrielle, a Democrat like me, is quoted in the Times as saying “Arizonans know that more boots on the ground means a safer and more secure border.”
More boots on the ground, Gabby? Is that what we need? More boots on the ground? I so hope that you’re defeated.
