Over at the NYT, Jay Goltz writes a hilarious story about being selected as “Entrepreneur for the Year” for Illinois by Newt Gingrich’s Business Defense and Advisory Council.
You can imagine how hot to trot Jay was to head to DC and pick up his big shiny trophy, not to mention enjoying some serious face time with Newt to rap about the problems facing entreprenuers in these dark, Democratic times. But Jay’s ardor cooled pretty quickly when he read the fine print: a table at the event (for two) would cost him $5,000. But seriously, Jay, what’s the problem? Money doesn’t grow on trees, you know!
