The more I read about America’s latest triumph, the murder of Anwar al-Awlaki, the more depressed I get. Obama appears to be very proud of his murder—a murder of his very own, so to speak, since it was the Obama Administration that added Anwar to Uncle Sam’s hit list. Also killed were Samir Khan, a very dangerous editor, and dangerous bomb-maker Ibrahim Hassan al-Asiri, who made the very dangerous underwear bomb that blew up the underwear of Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab.
According to the New York Times, Samir Khan wrote in his magazine Inspire that he was “proud to be a traitor to America.” Apparently, Obama is too. Because as a guy who took an oath to defend and protect the Constitution of the United States, he’s doing an awfully bad job.
Afterwords
The indispensible Glenn Greenwald, who must getting awfully tired of writing about America’s crimes, tells you about the latest ones here. Dick Cheney wants an apology here. I’d like to give him twenty years. Obama can explain to me why he deserves a lighter sentence.
