Michael V. Hayden, you may be interested to know, is currently a principal at the Chertoff Group and visiting professor at George Mason University’s Schar School of Policy and Government, and was formerly director of the National Security Agency from 1999 to 2005 and the Central Intelligence Agency from 2006 to 2009. He has a column up in the Wash Post today politely suggesting to Donald Trump that it’s not a good idea to get in a pissing match with the CIA. Since I am, frankly, glad to see Signor Donald get in a pissing match with just about anyone on the right, my feelings are basically, Right On, Michael V. Hayden!
Well, except when Michael V. twirls an encomium past me like this one: “Former CIA director Leon Panetta got great marks from the agency for standing up against elements and actions of the Obama administration when it targeted CIA officers.”
What was said “targeting”? When some reprehensible types suggested that people who engaged in criminal activities such as, you know, torture, might be held legally accountable for their actions. Hey! I joined the CIA to break the law, not to follow it! Leave me the fuck alone!
So who’s worse, Donald or Michael V? Guess I’m in a quandary over this one.
Afterwords
Mike’s frequent habit of shading the truth was previously exposed by Sen. Dianne Feinstein.
