On August 1, 2023, former President Donald Trump was formally charged in federal court with four felonies, as a result of his efforts to defy the outcome of the 2020 presidential election and remain in office after January 20, 2021. On August 3, 2023 Washington Post columnist Megan McArdle ran her weekly column, this one bearing the head A substance created in a Korean lab could change everything. Or nothing., devoted to discussing the possibility (only the possibility, mind you) “that material known as LK-99, synthesized in a Korean lab, can function as a room-temperature, ambient-pressure superconductor.” [My emphasis]
So at least one person in DC is keeping her priorities straight these days.
UPDATE
Okay, it looks like Megan should have led with “Nothing”. Well, at least it gave her a week to polish her spin on the Trump indictments, which might even last longer than the LK-99 frenzy. Here’s hoping!
