Jonah Goldberg has a weekly (I guess) column at the National Review called “The G-File”, in which he raps, often at no mean length, about what it means to be the G-Man. In the current iteration, Jonah seems to have a lot on his mind, but his thoughts don’t quite come trippingly to the tongue, as Jonah wanders about regarding this, that, and the other (I did a lot skipping, so I can’t give details), but the gist that I finally gleaned is this: Why do I find myself in a conservative “movement” where it is somehow “conservative” for a congressional candidate to beat up a Jew?1 Good question, Jonah! I have another: Why don’t you leave and start hanging out with the smart people?
- Yes, Ben Jacobs, the guy that Greg Gianforte sucker-punched in Montana, is a Jew. And poor Jonah had to watch Fox folks like Rob O'Neill laughing their asses off over this example of “Montana justice.” O'Neill is the ex-SEAL self-appointed bad ass and self-anointed killer of Osama Bin Laden, which somehow makes him an authority on subjects other than close-order combat, to the extent that even poor Jonah feels compelled to get down on his knees in obeisance–“he was the guy that plugged Osama Bin Ladin, which earns him a lifetime coupon for free drinks as far as I’m concerned”. ↩︎
