The federal government’s “No Fly List” is already a massive insult to our constitutional liberties, as the American Civil Liberties Union makes clear. Now Senate Democrats want to make it worse by restricting or denying the right of people on the list to exercise their Second Amendment right to own a firearm.
I am not a firearms guy. I’ve never owned one and I very strongly doubt that I ever will. I do not doubt that about 90 percent of what is currently going on in the Senate is political posturing, but I wish my political party could figure out a way to posture without further trampling on Americans’ civil rights. If Senate Democrats want to do something constructive, they could abolish No Fly List.
