The Atlantic has printed a symposium/sitdown discussing the Obama Administration’s proposed nuclear agreement with Iran, featuring, well, featuring three Jews—Peter Beinart, David Frum, and Jeffrey Goldberg. Pete and Jeff are both in favor of the deal, leaving poor Dave as the odd man out, but I couldn’t help thinking that the Atlantic might have picked a panel with just a tad more diversity. When Dave moans, as he does, that Obama took the military force option off the table, a Muslim might have pointed out that Iran did the same. And when Dave accuses Iran of all sorts of crimes, a Muslim might have come up with a list of Uncle Sam’s greatest hits. As it is, the CIA’s overthrow of Iran’s democratically elected prime minister Mohammad Mosaddeq back in 1953, and our support of Saddam Hussein during the Iran-Iraq war (which Hussein started), and our unprovoked destruction of Iranian airliner Flight 655 (290 dead) go unmentioned. Something to think about the next time around.
