Over at the Wash Post’s “FastFIX” (and, baby, it is fast!), fast-talking (of course) Chris Cillizza gives the upside and the downside of the Newtman, something we need to know now that Newt could be our next president (it’s video 80 if you really want to see it).
Well, except that, over at Politico, we read that “Newt Gingrich’s political organization issued a statement late Tuesday night that the former House Speaker will not announce a presidential exploratory committee on Thursday, after Gingrich advisers had spent the whole day confirming just that to numerous news organizations.” Which is the same trick El Gringo has pulled about a hundred times in the last twelve years.
La Rochefoucauld (you remember him) said that it is easier to find a woman who has never sinned than one who has only sinned once. You can say the same things about dudes running for President.
Afterwords
I gotta love the way Politicoettes Alexander Burns, Dan Hirschhorn and Kendra Marr put the boot in Newt’s groin with the “after Gingrich advisers had spent the whole day confirming just that” line. That’s gotta hurt!
