Brad Plumer, hysteric in chief for “Vox”, warns that a new report from the UN—well, I’ll let Brad tell it:
“The new report includes a review of the evidence that carbon dioxide from burning coal, gas, and oil is heating the planet. It notes that some amount of “irreversible” climate disruption is already locked in, but things can also get much, much worse. Additional global warming could wreak havoc across the globe, potentially leading to food shortages, the flooding of major cities, and mass extinctions.”
“Wreak havoc”, huh? Wreak havoc! That sounds bad! Really bad! But if you follow Brad’s “wreak havoc” link, it takes you to another story written by Brad, which includes an awful lot of foot shifting, and hemming and hawing, until we get to the point that, well, it’s complex, all of it, but it’s definitely the case that, to quote Brad, “the costs of global warming outweigh the benefits,” which is almost the same as “wreak havoc,” but, frankly, to my mind, not quite up there with it. So Brad, if you don’t mind, I’m just going to stop reading you for the next decade or two. By then, maybe you’ll have a little bit better fix on what’s cookin’.
