“Speaking on CNN Wednesday, Powell said he has ‘no problem’ with same-sex marriage. Before he could utter another sentence on that subject, though, he defensively and dishonestly shirked responsibility for his critical role in enshrining a ban on openly gay military service into law. ‘It was the Congress that imposed don’t ask, don’t tell,’ he said in response to Wolf Blitzer’s questioning. Powell admitted it was his ‘recommendation’ but passing the buck to Congress may be the dodge of the century.”
It was Good Soldier Powell who gleefully stabbed his commander in chief in the back way back in 1993 on the subject of gays serving in the military, before stabbing his country in the back in 2003 when he validated all of the Bush Administration’s lies, justifying an invasion that he privately opposed, an invasion that led to the deaths of thousands of Americans and created near-anarchy in Iraq, turning the lives of millions of innocent civilians upside down and costing hundreds of thousands of them their lives, an invasion that has cost us about three-quarters of a trillion dollars and substantially weakened our international position. Nice job, General. Carry on.
