Another Clinton scandal? Who could have seen this coming?
Yes, the Clintons are thoughtless, sloppy, greedy, and self-indulgent—kind of like me, except they manage to make it pay better than I do. But why do they keep doing it? Why, why, why?
Because they don’t think it matters. They don’t care what the press says about them because they don’t think the American people give a damn. Who listens to the thousands of talking heads that proliferate over the media landscape/blogosphere? The other talking heads, that’s who. Them, and nobody else.1
President Obama, whose antiseptic administration is the precise opposite of the Clintons, follows precisely the same strategy when dealing the press. They don’t count. They just don’t count. Having an image problem? Wait six months, and go on Dave/Stephen or Jimmy 1 or Jimmy 2. Wait another six months, then rinse, and repeat.
Republicans, of course, don’t ignore the press. They attack it! You phony, faggy, Chablis-sippin’ homos! Take that, and that, and that!
Someday, the press is going to catch on.
