One of the things that I haven’t been worrying about too much is why employment has been increasing among men since the recession ended but still decreasing among women. Andy Sullivan, whose sympathies, and resources, are wider than mine, has been worrying about it, and posts this item. So why is it happening? Andy refers us to Noreen Malone who says that men are getting the “pink-collar” jobs that used to go to women. And, Andy says, Noreen knows why. Here’s Noreen’s explanation: “Whether because men are applying for positions they would not have considered before, or because of some ad-hoc affirmative action on behalf of guys who just can’t catch a break, or some other factor, such jobs are now going to men.”
Thanks for clearing that up, Noreen. Now, how about the emergence of human consciousness? What’s the deal with that one?
