Well, if the Bush White House had ever had the slightest intention of making “meaningful” reforms to Medicare (whatever that might have meant, ever, to anyone), if the “push [for] Social Security reform” hadn’t been entirely a political ploy to gut the program so that the Democrats could no longer use it as a stick for beating the GOP, and if “tax reform” had ever meant anything more than further cuts for the capital gains tax and the final elimination of the federal estate tax, Ross’s little summary might have been a little more, you know, accurate.
