On Wednesday, May 27th, the New York Times, for which I have a paid digital subscription, ran an “opinion” piece by Republican hit person Peter Wehner, titled “Have Democrats Pulled Too Far Left?”, which rattles through a predictable series of semi-truths and falsehoods regarding domestic issues, politely and nicely dissected by Jonathan Chait here.
Well, I can ignore that, I guess. If the New York Times can take my money and pay some balding, over-fed Republican big-mouth to distort President Obama’s record, I guess that’s journalism, of a sort. But when Pete and the NYT try to feed me this line, I gag:
“In foreign policy, Mr. Obama has shown himself to be far more critical of traditional allies and more supine toward our adversaries than Mr. Clinton was. Mr. Obama has often acted as if American strength is a problem to which the solution is retrenchment, or even retreat.”
Sorry, NYT, please can the bullshit. Or else give me back my dime.
