New Jersey Governor/lardbutt Chris Christie has noticed that the percentage of Republican primary voters who are black approaches zero, while the percentage who are, um, totally fucking racist is a lot higher, which is why he says things like this (via Rena Flores, CBS News):
“The problem is this, there’s lawlessness in this country” Christie said, on the CBS public affairs show Face The Nation. “The president encourages this lawlessness. He encourages it.”
“He does not support the police, he doesn’t back up the police. He justifies Black Lives Matter.”
Christie went on to claim that the Black Lives Matter organization advocates the murder of police officers.
Well, Chris is only the governor of one state, so, it’s not that terrible if he’s a racist hypocrite/demagogue, is it? But how about FBI director James Comey, who’s supposed to be looking out for the whole damn country? Well, Jim didn’t go “full racist” on us, but according to Chas Danner at New York magazine he did claim that the “age of viral videos” is causing crime rates to rise by making it impossible for cops to do their jobs—presumably because it’s “impossible” to enforce the law without, you know, breaking it. To his credit, Jim waxes a bit poetical (and evasive) about the whole matter—“I don’t know whether this explains it entirely, but I do have a strong sense that some part of the explanation is a chill wind that has blown through American law enforcement over the last year and that wind is surely changing behavior”—so he’s not as overtly reprehensible as Chris. But he’s still pretty fucking bad.
