Last week I took a poke at National Review dude Jonah Goldberg, suggesting that erstwhile Trump-hater Jonah was learning to stop worrying and embrace the Borg the Donald. I mean, resistance is useless, so why lose your crease over nothing?
Well, I was wrong, slightly. Jonah still finds Donald Trump repulsive, and his followers more so, complaining, basically (and correctly), that the Trump phenomenon is a loyalty cult that substitutes blind fealty for ideas, but (and this is so important), when it comes to this Russia thing, Hillary is just as bad! Really, she is! She’s terrible!
This is the meme the whole NR crew is pushing, not because they believe it, or (even) because they hate Hillary that much, but because they want to be seen by the True-Trumpers as hating Hillary and, more or less, defending the Donald. Hey, WE’RE ON YOUR SIDE! Even though we would really kind of wish you would cool it with the “Jews, you will not replace us” stuff. Because sometimes you sound like you mean it.

Jonah et al. can best be described as Dub-ya Republicans, yearning for those halcyon days when Dub-ya had all those knuckle-walkin’ Yahoos roped and branded. But them days will never come again.
