At least 26, starting off with Miles Davis, back in 1967, with earlier dates as far back as 1948, and as recently as last year, including several with Monk himself, along with vocals by Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughn, and, well, a host of others, pulled together rather randomly by me over the past six months. Oh, yes, and a nine-part suite/“rumination” inspired by Monk’s famous composition by George Crumb, performed by Spanish pianist Ricardo Descalzo. There are a few audio only pieces, and on one occasion a loud announcer from an early radio broadcast that featured both Charlie Parker and Fats Navarro. Click once and listen!
