In a recent poll of influential DC blogs, Literature R Us came in dead last. No one of any consequence reads this blog. So if you thought you were a person of consequence, well, you just got some bad news.
Nonetheless, I’m going to give you my opinion of why Sarah Palin bailed. Because she’s an amateur. Like Ross Perot and Jesse Ventura before her, and like 99.9% of the rest of us, Palin simply can’t take the pounding.
If you’ve ever wondered why Joe Biden, who seemingly cannot get in front of a microphone without saying something profoundly witless, without saying, in fact, the one thing that he most ought not to say, can end up as vice president, it’s because he can take the pounding. Ask Joe Biden a tough question. He won’t mind. Ask him a hundred; ask him a thousand. He still won’t mind. As long as you’re asking him questions, he’s happy. The only press conference Joe Biden fears is the one where no one shows up.
