U.S. troops film themselves urinating on corpses in Afghanistan. U.S. and allied troops burn copies of the Koran. A U.S. soldier goes berserk and murders 16 innocent Afghans. U.S. troops pose for photographs holding severed hands and legs. U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, we learn, has been flying home every weekend, to visit his family in California, at a cost to the U.S. taxpayer of over $800,000. Is it possibly time to change the subject, Leon? Oh, yeah! We’re “within an inch of a war with North Korea almost every day,” our noble SecDef proclaims! Groovy!
In my recent post re Günter Grass, I remarked that it must be embarrassing to be a German. Well, it’s also embarrassing to be an American. And with dudes like Leon and Barack in charge, it’s likely to stay that way. Oh, and Daniel Larison argues, convincingly, that things under Mitt would likely be even worse. Have a nice day, America! A lot of people won’t be!
