Felix Salmon’s “Countparties,” which should be “Counterparties,” executes a ludicrous euphemism in linking to the Wash Post’s Greg Sergent’s nice takedown of former NYT executive editor Bill Keller’s smoke-blowing complaint that the sequester is all President Obama’s fault. Felix inexplicably titles the link “Bill Keller may have made a glaring mistake in his latest NYT column.” As Greg points out, it’s not a “mistake,’ it’s a “straight up falsehood.”
Mainstream windbags like Keller and the WP’s Bob Woodward simply can’t admit, for whatever reason, that the Republican Party is the party of destruction. Like Lenin, and, yes, like Hitler, they believe “the worse the better,” and they are earnestly pursuing that worst. Despite the fact that Republicans loudly and endlessly announce that their policy is “NO COMPROMISE! EVER!”, Keller, Woodward, et al. insist that it is Obama’s fault that there is no compromise. I’m baffled by Republican hysteria, and disgusted by Keller and Woodward’s cowardice and duplicity in failing to acknowledge that hysteria.
